The Nelson region is a creative hotbed of over 350 resident artists and craftspeople, three lush national parks, 26 wineries, gorgeous fashion boutiques, and restaurants serving seafood fresh from Tasman Bay. Kia Ora magazine recently said Nelson "encapsulates everything that is enticing about the words 'holiday' and 'indulgence'."
Nelson city celebrates its creative spirit during the Nelson Arts Festival in October and is packed with day spas, mountain bike tracks and walks. The Saturday Market in Montgomery Square provides the perfect taster of what's on offer throughout the wider region, featuring rows of stalls manned by artisans, cheesemakers, chocolate makers and designers.
Just a short drive from Nelson Airport, the Tasman Bays area literally blossoms in springtime. As well as being home to the lush native bush, golden sands and turquoise waters of the Abel Tasman National Park, it's where you'll find the majority of our region's wineries, orchards, gourmet food producers, destination cafes, and artists. For just $15 buy a copy of the latest Nelson Art Guide and follow the creative explorer trail. Pick up a copy of the Nelson Wine Guide map from one of the region's i-SITE visitor centres, or at the Nelson Escapes office in Upper Trafalgar St.
Nelson is also home to the stunning Golden Bay, white water capital Murchison and the incredible alpine landscape of Nelson Lakes.
